There are a lot of parallels between the business world and professional sports. The competitive drive that motivates each athlete is usually the same competitive drive that has helped build businesses. Similar to athletes, if we fail to grasp and consistently apply the essential principles and integrate them into our routines, our momentum may dwindle, leaving us stranded between our vision and the mission driving us toward it..
Recently in South Africa, we had the Cape Epic (an annual mountain bike stage race held in the Western Cape, South Africa, and it has been accredited as hors catégorie by the Union Cycliste Internationale), The Cape Town Cycle Tour ( the biggest timed bike race in the world) and the KAP San2C (a Three-day, 265-kilometer mountain bike stage race takes participants on a scenic journey through the stunning landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) races. None of these three races are for the faint of heart – they demand discipline, motivation, accountability, resilience, determination and self-reflection. All of these are business practices.

Establishing these roots (fundamentals) maintains our ability to nurture growth and attain essential outcomes. This requires continuous practice.
